- Thanks, Doc! I was also waiting for this one as WYWH is prob'ly my fave Floyd album (if I were pressed to choose one). We really appreciate all your hard work getting these podcasts together for us. And is it really getting that close to #200?!?
All the best! - Now that we have the first and second set from the Wembley show(s), it would be cool to do a matrix of the audience, BBC and the Immersions. You know, this way Raving and Drooling could have Jimmy Young at the beginning and Tuning / Echoes could be added as the Encore. A future podcast???
- I basically tripped over your website by accident recently.love the site, and the podcast is outrageously good.the material and quality just blows my mind.I've been going back and getting some of the older shows so i can catch up.great job.Your work is greatly appreciated.thank you for what you do.you're awesome.
- Hello Doctor, Some of this stuff like the boston gaaden material I have a vinyl bootleg, It's called Pigs Wishes and Moons anyone remember these bootlegs? Also the The shine on material, Ivory Wynne stadium I think. But anyways good Floyd material. Hey Doctor Do you have any bootlegs in your collections, vinyl or otherwise?
Thanks for listening,
Echoes / Kenny
- Hello Doctor, Thanks for the brilliant Podcast! Great sound, it's the way it should be heard. The Boston gaden is very cool to hear again. The Quad mix was cool to gear for the first time too. Have A Cigar alternate version is really something to hear very different too! Thanks for the hard work and effort.
Echoes / Kenny - I was at the Wembley gig on 15th November 1974 and remember the band getting heckled about playing too much new stuff! The timing for SOYCD on Amazon MP3 is 20 mins which suggests they have the whole track there rather than just the first part. Always enjoy the podcast :-)
- Wish I knew what the missing track is in your podcast? Excellent as usual Doc. Nearly as good as watching them live!
Those 4 famous notes of Shine On give me goosebumps every time I hear them
I can't believe I have been listening to your work for over 5 years - as my iTunes says 13.5 days of Floyd.
What will we ever do without you Doc? - From Meddle to Final Cut I personally rate WYWH at the bottom. However, that does mean it's my 6th favourite album of all time so OF COURSE I'd like to win! Even more so because this is one immersion set I'm not going to buy. Great episode Doc, shine on!
- hiya doc, thankyou sooo sooo much again ,for another great podcast. this time ,of what is to come with the wywh immersion boxset! i absolutely loved "have a cigar!"
your the best doc! PINKFLOYDPODCAST ROCKS! DOC THANKYOU AGAIN FOR ALL OF THESE YEARS OF, GREAT PODCASTS! oops sorry for the caps, lol im listening to "have a cigar" again! lol lol
thanks again doc,
kenny - Well, hog gravy and biscuits! The Herr Doktor has surprised me with a new podcast! I drool merrily and prost mightly so, sah! I'm looking forward to this one. These songs are beyond the realms of "classic". Thanks for your hard work, Doc. I owe you a few (hundred) brews. PROST and thanks, man!
- Doc - I forgot, another comment to improve my chances when you throw the dart later.
One thing the 'casts will miss are the live show images, which of course started properly in '74 with Ian Emes' commissioned animations (after French Windows used on OGreyWTest, set to One Of These Days) and before the involvement of Gerald Scarfe. Welcome To The Machine being a visually memorable example, and it must have been good to compete with the body-shuddering bass during the track.
AL - Hi Doc! Can't wait for the Wish you were here immersion set! I've been looking forward to this one more that the Dark Side box set! And as usual, thanks for the podcasts....I love all the work you have done. Thank you for letting me enter your contest.
- Hi Doc. Thanks again for another amazing podcast. I'm pretty excited about the new Immersion edition of WYWH, because it's my favorite album. Anyway, I'm trying to get the DSOTM Immersion edition first, but here in Chile it's a bit expensive.
Uh, I forgot to tell you on Facebook that i've got, finally, my ticket to go to the Roger Waters concert on March 2nd =D
So, the next months will be very floydian.
A big hug from Santiago, Chile. - Hello again, Matt. I've listend to JUST ABOUT all your podcasts on this website, which is a lot! Great job as always!
I love Raving and Drooling, but the matrixed doctored up version from Boston Garden was and is the best copy of that song. Hope you feature it again sometime! - OK, last one: Immersion of Animals would be interesting, perhaps the outing of Raving and Drooling and Gotta Be Crazy now overlap too much, so they don't feel it is warranted. Must be out-takes somewhere, and I'd think they overlap with Mihalis - ?
Perhaps instead of scarf and marbles, the Animals box set will come with inflatable pig and a wad of spit!...
And good to see Boston on the list of The Wall tour dates for next year - more 'casts?
See you there? AL - Doc - great 'cast, thank you as always for the effort in spreading candy to so many ears. The violin story from NM is good, thankfully not lost or recorded over. The 'cast looks pretty faithful to what the set will be (missing the great stories of 'pork chops' however, still SB's haunting presence gives WYWH a tone it wouldn't have had otherwise) - AL
(the numbering is out above, but adds to the mystery - did you lose your marbles? you can get some more in the box set...) - Hey Doc - Google is indexing more comments so work plastering a few in here for good measure; and working on the basis quantity over quality of posts might help me on the competition (else I'm knack'ed) - AL
BTW, the WYWH Immersion prize is rightfully mine, so please send it right along: I've invested in a spanking new set of earbuds to help me hear the 'casts in even more glory (and help drown out Waterloo station), - we all love this reissue campaign but let's say it plain and straight: the true immersion in legendary pink floyd stuff has always been your podcast, Doc!
that said, i'm looking forward to a possible animal immersion set too; i always loved those '77 shows. how i wish i were there... - AHH: just heard the bit that you can post more than once for the compo chance, so seems that I'm being unfair
BUT: forgot to add, only just came here/newbie because got a heads up from the latest UK 'Mojo' (Dec. iss) mag, 'Playlist' recommendation (bottom p.104). Bit different from the bad old days like when at Uni I got a 'cease and desist' letter from the British BPI coz I shared my boots around ...! - Oh WOW, WOW and more WOW!! Hell's (division!) bells, this (and the few others I've managed to hear so far) are, are, are - I dunno how to epithet adequately my happiness at discovering all this trove/someone who is as dedicated to PF to also try and make their own collection/selections (my friends and family just thought I am sad/won't grow up!): what a professional you are - I once tried listening to all my DSOTM live versions to cobble together my own choice definitive live show - it's still in 'the works' (other life duties seem to get in the way): Hey you/Doc: way before all this 'crumbs(ling) from the table(land)' reissue stuff, I long ago got tired of hoping for any, so 'immersed' myself in seeking out the best 'versions' done by others, and did put together a own various artists WYWH and A alternative 'albums' (mostly based around Out of Phase) on old style cassette (for play in my equally old style car): as I see you have done a couple of covers casts, and occasionally take others inputs, might you be interested to hear/even possibly share thru ya casts with others?
To close: awesome is an oft overused/meaningless term nowadays, but these casts are just that. Be rightfully proud Doc.
- Greetings Doc! A big smile came upon my face when itunes automatically downloaded the recent podcast, so came around to say thanks and can't wait to check it out! I know me and the fellow listeners can agree, we won't be disappointed. By the way: If I win, I STILL wouldn't open it!!!
