Show #170, Release date: 22. May, 2011

In keeping with the tradition of featuring a Wall gig for every city I've seen it in, as promised, here's the big show from London.  This was my ninth time seeing The Wall and by far the most special.  It was the night David Gilmour returned the favor to Roger.  As things would have it, Nick Mason was also there and joined in.  The surviving members of Pink Floyd, reunited on stage for the first time since Live8.  It was amazing!  Roger and the band sounded tight and the sound is incredable!  I had an excellent location to record from and I'm pleased to present it to you.

Live at the O2 Arena, London, U.K., 12. May 2011.  With Special guests... David Gilmour and Nick Mason!

A huge special thanks to Jeff (aka Ravingandrooling) for lending me his recording gear.  Photo taken from my seat with an iPhone3Gs.  Section B3, Row A, Seat 50

  • Hi,

Thanks for this wonderful recording, it is great to hear the whole 'Gilmour' show. What's even better is the quality, which is superb and there aren't any annoying idiots close by shouting and screaming as you often hear on boot's. Once again, many thanks and keep up the good work.

    Cheers, Kevan.

  • Funny thing is that that Quebec performance has few songs from Radio KAOS. In fact, it doesn't even include The Tide is Turning(!).

  • Doc,
    Have you seen this?
A bootleg video of Radio KAOS live in Quebec, 1987. It's of surprisingly good quality. 12 parts on youtube.

  • Wow. This is exactly what as I was hoping for since the moment I heard the news about the O2. Twitter seemed to buzzing with news and Polly Samson too tweeted about polishing David's mandolin, haha. Anyway, great podcast and great recording!

  • Hi Doc, Thanks for another great recording! I've enjoyed many of your excellent shows in the last 12 months. I was hoping to meet you guys at the london gigs, but unfortunately we were pushed for time.
I intend to record the Manchester 28 June gig, with some high quality equipment, and if we are successful i wish to send you the wav files. Would you please e-mail me back doc, so we can discuss this more. Thanks.

  • Thanks Guys... there seems to be a slight issue with comments getting through to me. If you do not see your comment, please try again. Be sure to leave an email and name.

@Dean.... Tha tune is a sample from "Echoes". I lifted it from David Gilmour's "Remember That Night" DVD

  • Doc, thanks for another great show! I was wondering, what is the tune that plays during your breaks now? I like it, it sounds rather ominous.

  • An awesome recording from the master. It's just about flawless, man. And coming from the Doctor himself...

It's like having Wolfgang Puck cut your steak for you. Or Tommy Hilfigger hand sew your jeans. It's that good.

How you could keep quiet during the whole show, let alone upon Mr. Gilmour's appearance, is beyond me. Thanks for putting us in your seat for this amazing show.

  • Hey Doc.. It was great to finally ( briefly ) meet you at the Pilot on Sunday the 15th, got a nice photo with you me & my brother Nick.. I'll get him to email it across to you.. & the gig in the evening was of course amazing, even if we were 3 days out with our Gilmour calculations..!
Many thanks for the Podcast ( & doing the recording ) as well, will be giving it a listen later..!
    Chris.

  • Fantastic to here this special night in full. I was there at the 02 on the 17th and it was, easily, the best arena show I've ever seen. But this must have been something else.

  • @ acousticPhenomena... rare is an understatement. I don't normally record shows. In general, this was the 3rd gig I recorded in 11 years.

@Maff... Its unlikely, but is there a particular reason why you want to hear the 15th?

  • I hope you will feature another London Show the 15th
