Show #162, Release date: 31. October, 2010

Happy Halloween!  Continuing on with 'The Wall Concert Series', from Hartford, CT., 15th October at the XL center.  Its a very compact venue with a concert seating capacity of 16,606.  The venue was formally known as The Hartford Civic Center and was the former home of The Hardford Whalers.  Pink Floyd played here back in 1987.

This was my 6th time seeing the show.  Not many recordings exist of this night and this is one of only two I know of.  I explain a few things about the recording and I also provide three easy steps for getting that perfect recording.

If you think you might be interested in recording concerts and for more information on equipment and what to do, please visit The Sound Professionals

A big thank you to RogFan for the recording.

  • hey doc!

been a bit quiet myself recently, but always listening! just wanted to voice a big thank you (!!!) for the last couple of casts you brought to us. really love the roger's wall shows, still thinking david is kind of missing there, although I second a comment above that especially the guitar players are top of their game, and of course there's snowy and jon carin, what can I say...

looking forward to what comes next!

    big cheers to boston!

  • Hi Doc. Do you already know what the next podcast will be? Maybe Waters at Mmadison Square Garden on 6th November? Cheers, Thomas.

  • I was at the November 6th show at MSG. What a great time! The stagecraft was over the top. I did however feel that the heart of the music was missing. Roger is a genius, but needs David Gilmour to complete him. The guitar players on tour are at the top of their game. But DG absolutly puts the feeling into the way he strums his guitar. It just doesn't feel the same without him. It wan't until I was at the show, hearing it live, that I felt something was missing. Thank you so much for the recordings of the shows. I hope to hear the MSG show up here soon!!

  • I downloaded your version "75 Boston Matrix” 'on Yesshkull, but I did not not found any artwork for this release.
So I propose to you several works
If you agree, I can publish one of them, but I need your advice
In any case, thank you very much for your podcasts, it's always a real pleasure

  • What a treat to hear the Brass Bonanza after the show! I grew up going to Whaler's games at "The Mall" and that song always brings back good memories. Oh and the show was pretty good too!

  • I think the first tip in recording is to tell the dude close by to stop with the whistling.... ha, ha...

Was at this show, I thought it was better than the first Boston show, thanks for posting!

Doc, next Thursday The Machine is back at showcase Live... Anything happening with the station? Bad night for a show but I'll be there... New song added to TM's repertoire - Careful With That Axe, Eugene opened their halloween show... good stuff!

  • @ Alan... Thank you for that DC show. Yes I have recorded a few shows. I don't do it too much though. I've recorded some Ween and Tenacious D and Blue Floyd to name a few.

  • Hey Doc,

Thanks for this show. I was the one that sent you the DC show I recorded. Unfortunately, this was also the first show I ever recorded and I had the levels set at about 80%. I was using a Zoom H2 so I didn't want to move it around to check it too much because the mics are part of the unit and I was a little nervous anyway. Thanks for the tips. Do you stealth record any concerts?

  • Doc,

Great show and thanks for "doctor"-ing the sound, it's quite good!

I will try for a BINAURAL recording in Philly 11/9. I like your halftime hints for recording, including getting a seat near the sound board. Reminds me of my deadhead days and the tapers' section at every show.

ALL: See you in Philly on the 9th. I'll be recording in BINAURAL.
