- Hi Doc
Just for the record and seeing as you asked, yes the old Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park, London is still there. You come out of the tube station and turn right. Its still a very impressive venue but has been closed for many years unless you count its noteriety as the meeting place for a radical Islamic extrimist group... Other cool Floyd sites worth checking out in London are the Roundhouse in Chalk Farm (now restored as a great gig venue), the various "Syd Floyd" venues around Ladbrooke Grove (including Powis Square and All Saints Church), Battersea Power Station, Britannia Row and Abbey Road studios, Hyde Park, Earl's Court (which is about to be pulled down) etc. I'd also recommend the boat trip up the Thames to Hampton court which passes David's houseboat studio. Have fun - may well see you at the 02. - excellent show, doc, huge thanks for roger's "give birth to a smile", it set me off to yet still discover a whole range of tracks david collaborated on, that I hadn't known about so far!! most notable one would be unicorn's original version of "no way out" (that david also played on, produced and later covered).
great to hear your ear is good again!!!
oh, and also want to add that today I listened back to #155, now not that I ever doubted it was really excellent (still oakland 77 has a special place in my heart), but it really is mindblowing from beginning to end...!!!
cheers,
bernhard - Please Please - repost or fix the link to "The Film"
I would love to have this recording - so if none of the above please send me away to get it - thank you in advance. Also thank you for all the excellent work you do that results in many hours of listening pleasure - Great selections, Doc. And what a great picture! The blank cassette brings to memory the taper's dilemma blues. I remember the agony of mulling over whether to shell out the extra bucks for additional 60-minute blank cassettes ("better quality" it was said) versus the 90-minute ones (more songs, fewer flips needed).
