  • Superb podcast Doc.Thank you very much for your works.I'm not totally believing it's true.

  • Thank Doc!

I\'m just wondering... is there any chance you could post some of the shows on your \"Old WMFO Shows\" page. I\'d really like to hear them. They sound really cool. If you can, that\'d be great. If you can\'t, that\'s fine, too.

    Thanks,

  • \"Great Britain/U.K are made up of England, Scotland,Wales and North Ireland.\"

Please remember that the UK and GB are two different things. The United Kingdom is the union containing Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain consists only of England, Scotland and Wales. So, Northern Ireland is in the United Kingdom but not in Great Britain.

Of course, many people believe that NI should not even be in the UK - but that is a whole debating point! I\'m just sticking to constitutional facts here!

  • Your recent podcasts have been outstanding. Really great, properly rare stuff. The live 'Violent Sequence' was particularly moving. Cheers!

  • Wow doc, that was quick. Thanks so much for playing the 'Violence Sequence' for me. It's excellent, and showcases what a great musician Rick Wright is. Was that the olny time it was played?

On an unrelated note, I work for Time Out London. Would you like the show to be featured as our Podcast Of The Week, or do you prefer not to draw too much attention to it, in case of copyright heat?

  • Great show!

A request: Could you maybe play "Moonhead" from the TV show in 69?

I really love the track with that title on the "Songs for architectural students" bootleg, but I am not sure if that is really the same song that was used in the TV show.

  • That has to be THE creepiest version of Let There Be More Light I've ever heard. Awesome.

  • the 67 set the controls is around as is a snippet of reaction in g.these have surfaced more recently along with flaming on a new roio/boot of the John Peel tribute show. The quality is superb.

  • Any chance of including the complete 'Zabriskie Point' sessions in a future 'cast, Doc?
Also, could The Son of 'One Of Your Turns' make an appearance?

  • Doctor, Thanks for another good 'un...Interesting material here, although I prefer the sessions in podcast 76. The first time I heard the 70/71 Paris Cinema sessions was on Tommy Vance's 'Friday Rock Show' on Radio 1 in 19oatcake - they still sound great!
Definitive info on the UK can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_kingdom
Call it what you like but please not 'England' (as we in Scotland + those from Wales and Ireland find that pretty offensive! - perhaps akin to referring to someone from 'the south' as a Yank!
    All the best!

  • Oops - you beat me to it Ben. Serves me right for not hitting refresh since this morning.

P.S. Not being picky - I\'d just like to know. The order of the tracks in this cast differs from the lists on the BBC website. Anyone know which one is right, i.e. in what order each set of tracks were originally broadcast?

  • Set the Controls was part of the 1967 set, as was Reaction in G. Have they survived or are they permanently missing? Always wanted to hear the \'67 version of Set the Controls. Otherwise, great stuff. Keep \'em coming.

Just to complete the info - our passports say \"The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland\". Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain - the term United Kingdom was invented when the NI province came into being. At least that\'s the way I\'ve always understood it. But yes, it is confusing.

  • 'fraid, old bean, the comments above are wrong. The UK is made up of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Whereas Great Britain is England, Wales and Scotland only. So different names for different configurations.
    Cheers
    Ben
P.S. Any Division Bell outtakes or demos kicking around...?

  • Hey Doctor, I listen to your podcast frequently and love it. Recently, I\'ve been trying to get The Final Cut demos (I believe they\'re called \"The Final Cutting\") but I\'m having some difficulty. So, here\'s my request. If you get a chance sometime, do you think you could try to get a hold of those demos for a future podcast or something? That would be really awesome and I\'m sure many people, including myself, would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for consistently putting together such great shows.

  • Re: Apples and Oranges
From what I can remember, they used the studio cut of Apples and Oranges for that September 1967 session.

  • Great show Doc. I previously had these recordings on a shitty bootleg and the quality was terrible. I\'m pretty sure though that Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun was part of a 1968 session? Or did I imagine that??

  • Are we America, the U.S., the U.S.A., the United States, or the United States of America? I guess that's not a perfect analogy, but it is a fourth comment.

  • Another great show. Keep up the good work. I've enjoyed catching up on all your older shows over the past month :)

As for what you call the island Pink Floyd came from, the name's interchangeable. The UK is the most commonly phrase used these days.

  • Thanks for another great podcast. I`ve been trying to get hold of these for a while. :)

Great Britain/U.K are made up of England, Scotland,Wales and North Ireland. We tend to be U.K nowadays as we're not so great anymore :) Great Britain is a throwback to the days of Empire.

So Pf members are from England but are part of the U.K. it can be confusing :).
