Show #106, Release date: 08. March, 2008 Okay… this is a long one. Ever since doing the last KAOS podcast (Show #91), I’ve wanted to feature a more complete, consistently better sounding gig from that tour. Recorded live at the Mecca Arena, Pre-show Set One Set Two Encore Running time: 3h:02m:31s Comments[26]

- Fantastic! I can truthfully say I've been waiting at least 13 years for this. Real long YEARS. This show places a great context on the original KAOS record, reminding me what I like about the studio record, and what I don't. The humanism (and hipness) of DJ/introducer Jim Ladd is better conveyed live, on the record it was edited down to rather glib sometimes annoying window-dressing. The story is fleshed out a bit more live (I like where Billy slams a door shut with radio waves - that could have worked on the album as well. I also appreciated when he explained why he didn't blow up the world.) "Who Needs Information" sounds better live, losing the vaguely Dire Straits vocal of the original. "Molly's Song" is interesting, using motifs that are repeated on "4 Minutes" effectively. "Radio Waves" still sounds over-long and a little winded, and "Money" reminds one of my least-liked Floyd songs. The recording could be a little better, but it's quite acceptable and important history. This live show makes a good case for a re-issue of "Radio KAOS" (hell, Silver Platters now sells it for a cheap $7), with the unincluded songs, and a 2nd CD of a KAOS live show. I would argue this Milwaukee one.
- Thanks again doc for the podcast, i look forward to the new editions everytime with baited breath. Im not so sure about this stage of rogers career? the concept of the show is great but i question some of the musicianship. There seems to be that annoying drum patern across most of the songs and too much sax making this era date very quickly. I love the moodiness of Rog\'s stuff and i think thats been slighty eroded on this tour. Many thanks for the posts though doc .... keep em coming !
- hey doc,
a belated thank you for yet another very fine podcast. I have to admit most of roger's stuff is still challenging me, I try my best though. it hurts to admit it, but somehow it seems roger already anticipated what became zoo tv on U2's part a few year's later. a whole new perspective...
not sure if I got the ending, but I suppose the very ending stands in conjunction to the last song and the comment before... if so, I got it.. ;)
cheers to you, looking forward to #107!

- Wow, thanks Doc, that was a great performance, love it.
It was also the perfect length since it got me through producing a very boring proposal indeed !!!
Whilst listening to Brain Damage/Eclipse, and in case you are after any dance steps, check out Elaine from Seinfeld shaking her tail feather at a Roger Waters gig....

- Doctor, you're workin' overtime. 3 hours!
What memories! This was a tight show, and a whollop of a multimedia extravaganza for its time. And Carrack was at the top of his game then, too. My bro', our friends and I went twice, NJ and Philly, tweaked for the first and straight for the second. At the latter we managed to grab an all-digital stereo recording (using borrowed portable Betamax VCR with this PCM audio generator thing strapped onto it). No one knows where the tapes or the gear ended up after 20 years, but tonight's podcast sounds just as good if not better.
Yeah I'm amazed Waters never sold a live album or video concert.
