Show #145 Release date: 01. December, 2009 Ivor Wynne Stadium, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, 28. June 1975. Here's a gig that been long overdue for a podcast.. This features the second to last performance of Echoes with Roger still in the band. Their performance is excellent and the sound is amazing (after fixing it up of course). It was the last show of the North American Tour so in a dramatic finale, Pink Floyd's crew decided to go out with a bang and used up their remaining pyrotechnics around the stadium scoreboard. The explosion at the climax of the show was so intense it blew the scoreboard to pieces and shattered windows in neighboring houses. All in the name of Floyd. Please note this will be the last podast of 2009. I wish you a safe and happy holiday season and a peaceful New Year! Set One: 01. Raving and Drooling 02.You Gotta Be Crazy 03. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-5) 04. Have A Cigar 05. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 6-9) Set Two: 06. Speak To Me 07. Breathe 08. On The Run 09. Time 10. The Great Gig In The Sky 11. Money 12. Us And Them 13. Any Colour You Like 14. Brain Damage 15. Eclipse Encore: 16. Echoes Running Time: 2h:29m:44s Comments[24]

- coming in late here, doc! thanks for no.145, been listening on and off for the last couple of weeks, already a favourite!
just wanted to thank you again for all you do! hope you had yourself some quiet days off, and all the best for 2010! keeping my fingers crossed thgat all goes well with you know what, we'll be there to support you anyway we can!
slainte,
bernhard - Thanks Doc, A Happy Christmas & New Year to you, and Best Seasonal Wishes to all Floydians everywhere.
I would like to throw in my two-penn'orth (or two cents, Doc!) in the ongoing debate regarding unofficial recordings.
Firstly, there is the legal aspect. Any artist has the right to control their work, I don't think any true respectable fan would dispute that. Originally, bootlegging was a term applied to the deliberate practice of faking original products (usually booze) and selling it cheaply in order to profit at the expense of the genuine manufacturer. This also happens now with designer clothing.
However, where music is concerned, while I think that the band - any band - has the right to control their output, I would plead mitigation in obtaining and listening to unofficial material.
Firstly, none of us respectable folks makes any profit at all from such recordings, and we don't deprive Floyd or anyone else of any income. We trade and we download AND we still buy the official releases - we don't buy substitutes, we want to own the official work which Messrs Gilmour, Waters, Wright and Mason have taken so much time and effort to produce, either individually or collectively.
Secondly, none of us can help how we feel - we like the unofficial stuff too, either because we weren't around at the time, or because we want to re-live a particular concert, or at least one from the same period. The quality isn't always there, but someone like The Doc does his very respectful damndest to restore it.
So if the Floyds aren't particularly keen on this stuff, as seems to be the case, and very understandably, then please may I ask them for permission to be allowed to continue to enjoy re-living the times which we can't get back, or discovering those we never knew. If not with your complete blessing, then with what would be considered a very generous "turning the other cheek" and possibly a wink? We only do it because we like you!
Thanks - Thanks Doc!
I have a request. Could you feature one of the shows on the Division Bell Tour when the Floyd played "Lost For Words." Knowing that they only played it a handful of times, I was wondering if there are any recordings other than poor quality videos that are out there.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays!!! - Cheers as always Doc. This is one of the first Floyd concerts I heard back in the mid 80s on cassete. It stands up as probably the ultimate 1975 show for atmosphere - the crowd reaction as "Echoes" and "Dark Side" start will always stay in my mind as pinnacle moments. I'm looking forward to hearing what you've done with this.
- Thank you everyone!
@Bumr50... I much appreciate the thought but things are still up in the air. Lets not jump the gun. I think such letters to Floyd Management might rock the boat and hurt any chance of a relationship with them. I'd ask that you refrain. Thanks though.
Doc - Hey Doc!
Great podcast as usual!
I was wondering if you or anyone else could direct me to an e-mail address where I could send a letter of polite thanks to the David Gilmour and Pink Floyd management for their cooperation in allowing you to continue to produce the finest podcast on the web. Feel free to e-mail them.
Thanks again for the music! - Nice little plug for The Machine Doc - Glad to see your doing the intro... As you know, The Machine is the real deal and a must see if you can get to Gillette this friday! Was planning on being at the show but now I'm not so sure... Doc I realize your off until the new year but a tribute cast in 2010 with deeper cuts is long over due... I'm sure you can record the show for that future tribute cast ha, ha... Happy New Year to all!
- ........Damn..this is a GREAT podcast....I've been up all night, attending to various 'chores' (Christmas shopping, etc, etc) and I've played this through multiple times....seems Better each time!
What a great performance, one of the Best from this era, and what a kick-ass podcast. You're in fine form these days,Doc,....thanks for all you do to keep Floyd's Art "alive" and to keep us eager for something good--right around the next corner......
Oh yeah....."Season's Greetings" to Doc and to all The Floyd Fans of the World.posted by: Michael from South Carolina on 2009-12-02 06:37:00
- Thanks so much for this show.My only critique of this show is that it is probably a foreshadow to the obnoxious crowds the Floyd were getting in 1977.The constant shouts of 'Sit down!' even in the final seconds of Echoes which is the end of the concert is a little grating on the nerves.
But the sound of this recording is excellent with some great moments like Any Colour You Like.Stellar performance.BIG thank you.
Cheers. ALAN
