- WOW! Had to post back here. I just finished listening to the entire podcast. When they started the second set the hairs raised up on my arms, I got goosebumps and my eyes teared up. The raw emotion this recording brings back is incredible.
I remember sitting and listening in disbelief. We never expected them to play the whole album. You know how bands will play two consecutive songs, and then change it up. Every time they continued with the next song we were going nuts. Quite the mix of chemicals running their course through me that night made it all the better.
I can't thank you enough for this recording and it sounds fantastic. You did a fine job cleaning it up.
Matt - Holy crap! I was just telling a guy at work about this show. I was there along with 9 or 10 friends! We were dead center stage in the first row of seats off of the floor. Nobody to obscure the view and the acoustically perfect spot. I remember leaning forward resting on the guardrail during the DS set, wondering if life could get any better.
Thank you so much.
Matt - I imagine the ticket would be £50uk
but the legalised ticket scalping that goes on with all the arenas mean anywhere from £170uk to £300uk
that being the "official" price that venues will scalp you for
Nick Mason has recently gone on record as saying:
"Rock veterans PINK FLOYD will reunite again - but only for charity, according to drummer NICK MASON.
The British star claims the band, which regrouped for a one-off reunion for 2005's Live8 gig, is currently trying to source a good charity to support before it sets any more concert dates.
Mason says, "I'm pretty sure we'll play together again. We're not at each others throats now."
The Live8 performance marked the end of a 20-year feud between Dave Gilmour and former frontman Roger Waters"
and that message is passed out by Roger Waters management, as opposed to internet speculation ;)
and lets face it, he is the conduit for sense out of the murky waters that are Pink Floyd Music - Hey doc, ive been listening to your podcasts for a couple of months now and am always looking foward to whats coming next. I was listening to the meddle album the other night and was wondering if the floyd ever played 'fearless' interpolating into 'you'll never walk alone' live. I think it would be cool to hear crowd interaction actually adding to the music instead of the norm of the crowd hindering the music.
- That's Jim Florentine. He's a comedian from the NYC/NJ area. The clip is from one of his CDs "Terrorizing Telemarketers 3". Its made up of phone calls Jim gets from
telemarketers. Instead of just hanging up, he has a little fun with them. http://www.jimflorentine.com/ - DOC! As a native of Michigan: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Am I allowed to yell that? I was at this show but consumed too much tequila and "stuff" that night and had a tough time with reality for the first half of the show - so I can not express how grateful I am to have this concert flash back! This show was actually the first to go on sale - and the "first" Detroit show was added after-the-fact (have not heard this podcast yet - so if you informed us of that during your intro... my bad)
I *COULD* ramble on about how much I love your podcast... and I *COULD* write about how much I appreciate your putting these shows together for us with "doctored" sound... and I *COULD* write a lot of statements that have already been posted on your site loads of times - so, rather than putting "ditto" (what that guy wrote) - I'll just write "Echoes" from now on, OK Doc? As I am "echo-ing" all of the comments about what a kick-ass job you do. Also, as a now regular listener and promoter of your show to all my friends, I have become an "Acolyte," of sorts. I think I'll continue this play on words and call myself an Echo-lyte... so maybe others will join in on this? Or it will go over like a big fat lead zeppelin :-)
- Echoes Doc! -
Big Bruce
-echolyte - Hi Doc and Everyone
Another good one, but what else would we expect?!
I think this is a particularly good '94 show, not just because of its historical significance, but because it's not quite like other '94 shows, e.g. the guitar solos in ABITW part 2 (from both David Gilmour and Tim Renwick)are just that bit different from other performances to enhance the song and the show. It sounds to me as if they and the rest of the band are relaxed and having a particularly good night, the music seems to be flowing more easily. For me, it's the best '94 performance from the US tour that I've heard.
Anyway, Thanks Again
Tony - Thank You so much for sharing this amazing show! I can\'t decide which I like better - this version of DSOTM or the one Roger Waters has preformed recently. I will have to listen to them both several more times just to make sure - unfortunately neither my wife or my neighbors share my passion for Pink Floyd..... maybe someday I will be able to meet some fellow Floyd fans that do - lol.
