Show #78 Release date: 19. February, 2007

Sorry for the delay.  I'm up to speed now and thank you for all the "get well" wishes.  This podcast is long overdue.  David Gilmour's About Face Tour was a brief one much like On An Island but the energy is totally different.  The band is tight and everyone sounds like they are having a great time.  The podcast is broken into two main segments and I explain why during the show.  Enjoy!

  • Thanks Doc for all those podcasts, and special thanks on covering the David Gilmour 1984 About Face tour. For me the show higlights were "You Know I'm Right" & "Near The End" guitar solos, long and melodic - typical Gilmour style!

    Thanks again Doc!

  • Hi Doc,

I don't know if you do any requests, but I'd like to hear Mason+Fenn "Lie for a Lie" again (David sings it btw ...) .. It is on the Mason+Fenn album! Perhaps a nice song to start the upcoming show with?

For the rest: shine on - keep talking - keep on rocking Doc! I love your shows! I have totally dedicated my "old" 15 gig iPod to your Podcasts: it is stacked with it! I always listen to them on my way to work .. There is no better way to start and end my day!

Anyway: I'm looking forward to the next one!

    For now all the best,

    Peter

  • Great gig. Not my fav interpretation of CN, but the solo rocked as always. As a devout Rogfan, you\'ve opened my eyes, Doc. Solo Dave is pretty darn good. Excellent show intro by Willy Wonka, too.

  • Hello,
Your show has had a glowing write up in the London edition of \'Time Out\' - will hopefully get more people on board
    Regards

  • Your website is an exercise in true altruism, one which I hope will be reciprocated somehow in your life even if you just walk with a skip in your stride and head held high knowing that you've brought joy to so many. You (and Pink Floyd) make the world is a better place. Ever in Hollywood CA, email me, dinner on me pal.

  • Excited to see this as I think this was a pretty good album. I have never heard it live.
    Thanks for the great work.

  • Doc-

I may not comment very often, but I DO listen every other week! I saw this tour at the Orpheum in Boston. I was only 16, and never having saw Floyd, it was my first live experience with a member of the band. I remember some guy kept yelling "There's no way out of here" until he finally played it. I also remember being disappointed that he only did 3 Floyd numbers, but heck, I was just a kid!

I would also like to put in a vote for The Final Cut Demos as a possible future Podcast. Keep up the great work!

  • Hmm...the piano break in Money is interesting and cool. I've never really been a fan of Dave playing that song without Roger, seeing that it was Roger's song, but I like what he did with it here. It's FAR better than how he raped the song on DSoT and Pulse, at any rate.

I've never heard About Face, but if this podcast is any indication, it sounds pretty good.

  • Tanks again Doc. Great stuff as always. I do have a question. Does anyone know why David repeates the last line of Money?

  • Thanks Doc, great recovery.

Met Mr. G during the 84 solo tour at a record signing near Philly. What a patient, easy-going guy; chatted with everybody and answered every kind of question.

  • Wizard podcast as always. But you sound a bit under the weather doc - hope you fully recover!

  • Man, what great memories this podcast summons. It\'s been years, probably 20 years since I\'ve heard an AF show. I went to a lot of the shows on this tour, and at one of the shows, David\'s last of the tour at the Pier in NYC, I had a brief conversation with the man himself. He was, I\'m happy to report a true gent. Anyway, thanks for this show. Also, I thought I\'d throw out an honourable mention to Jodi Linscott, who handled most of the percussion on the tour, but was replaced on the last leg (replaced by Sue Addams) because she was in her last trimeseter and could no longer travel.
