Show #149 Release date: 24. March, 2010

The name of the podcast almost has nothing to do with the theme but it does describe the manner in which it progresses.  A few weeks ago I realized that I've never featured the KQED sessions in full, not even on the radio back in 2004.  Crazy I neglected this for so long and its long overdue.  For the rest of the podcast, I wasn't 100% sure what direction to take it.  Well, the other day, Craig Williams, who's responsible for the last podcast idea again suggested the following, "Years ago you did a podcast featuring a compilation of the Pink Floyd radio sessions, well how about doing one featuring their appearances on TV. As it focuses on the bands early years, it provides a nice contrast to recent podcasts"  He also suggested KQED.  What a coincidence and bingo.  We were watching TV... watching TV.  Please don't mind me flipping the channels.

  • I'm 18 & really really enjoyed this Podcast!! I was looking for a long time for the instrumental track in Stanhope Gardens, it's just mind blowing.
I'm french & I'm singer/songwriter in a band. The world is beginning to re-open his mind to psychedelic music, I'll be there to make it comes back nicely.

  • I just found you! Nice job everone. I'm 45 and grew up with floyd. Thought my collection was complete. Born in 65 but a part of me died with the final cut. It's been 20 yrs or so since I swam deep with my beloved floyd. My anger was well spent on priest and maiden. I still feel the loss of anymore Floyd with the loss of Rick. My current dream is that Roger plays the whole wall. I wish to see David at the top of the wall like my wife and I did in L.A. 2/8/80. Thanks from a true Floyd lover.

  • A great "excavation" of sonic archaeology, Doc. Wonderful how they were back then, in some pretty competitive company, if you listen to some of the other bands then. Including Pink Floyd in a Vanderbilt Planetarium show on Long Island, NY,(not too far from Smithtown's "Weld Estate" the former MA governor was from, President Clinton wanted, but could not have, as Ambassador to Mexico, "party games") helped save the facility! I think. Recently I've also listened to Vladimir Ussachevsky - Film Music (1990) who may have inspired some of the work. Thanks, back in the USSA

  • This one even stands out from the already excellent background - THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Would you consider something from the Ummagumma period? I have recently heard a different approach, the "live" The Grand Ummagumma Party, which was pretty good and interesting with the new arrangement of the tunes, but I think, it was only "pseudolive" - with studio audience maybe. Do you have some really live - well, for example Sysyphus, this typical studio piece, could be interesting...

Thank you very much for your continuous great work!!!

    Sincerely yours,

    Thalamus
