Show #139 Release date: 15. August, 2009

It's nice being back to the norm and behind the mic again.  For this podcast, there's no specific agenda.  Much of the material featured branches off into solo elements and guest appearances.  You'll even get to hear from a few other Rock N Roll legends.  It's just one of those nice mix'casts of pure Floydness.  Enjoy!

  • Doc, this is truly an amazing episode. It uses lots of material from past podcasts, but it is exceptionally well-edited. I found it absolutely captivating, and it took my mind off the fact that my wife eloped 1 week ago.

To make a show like this you have to FEEL the material, and think about it. You clearly do, and I congratulate you for it.

  • I always forget just how good The Nile song was (and other tracks on More, for that matter). Nice show, Doc.

  • This was a really great cast Doc,

loved the Blues number from ZP and thought your personal respect to WBCN was spot on...as well as tribute to the Guitar master Les Paul.

    Thanks again

  • Hey Doc!,

    Fine work as usual!

Keep that Zurich 12/09/1972 rolling around in your head for me, OK?

    Peace-

  • Hey Peter,
There's a lot of confusion surrounding this track. The source I used for "Ah Robertson, It's You" is from the Harvested release called "Kabuki Fever". The track is also identified in Vernon Fitch's "the Ultimate Pink Floyd Encyclopedia".

I used to think it was "Song for My Sarah" as well... but I have to go with the source I used and Fitch's book verified it. Either way, its a damn good tune. : )

  • Not trying to be pedantic, but isn't 'Ah Robertson, etc' actually called 'Song for My Sara'. I'm pretty sure I saw that mentioned on his site. Thanks for including Deep In The Blues as well. Great song. I remember when it happened. I always wondered why Dave didn't use his Les Paul in that show. Guess he didn't have it on the road with him.

    Great show Doc.

  • apart from my personal happiness about the podcast, thanks for the lp tribute and your words on WBCN, I was ofcourse not familiar with the station, but it's always sad to see a long standing institution cherished by many go away. a fitting tribute of yours, very nicely put! about lp, hard to fathom or imagine the man's impact, the name as such in regard to the guitar. as a guitar player, or simply a person interested in music and its history, I am aware of the reach the name and the guitar have had and continues to have, but still it's hard to bring it to words. maybe too many words are not necessary after all. just took out my old lp and played some blues in honour of the man. may he rest in peace.

  • Thanks Doc,...looks like a fine collection. I love the photo too; ol' Storm was both a lifelong friend of some of Floyd's members and a real creative collaborative force in his own right.

Remember how much fun it use to be to read an album's line notes and admire the art. Those covers were great, and a cd jewel case just doesn't do them justice....
