Show #88 Release date: 6. July, 2007

The last podcast stirred up a great thread.  I planned to feature the first Waterless Floyd gig but decided to do an experiment instead.  I have for you, Floyd's last two albums.  Performed live (except Cluster One) all recorded off the soundboard, all arranged in the same order as each album.  This podcast was lots of fun to put together.  Hope you dig it.

  • I really love this one, it was something I thought would be cool to do but you got the mad skillz that I lack! This podcast turned out great.

  • Another great podcast from the doctor :D

    Thanks!!!

I do have a suggestion...since the final cut is never played live by Pink Floyd or Roger Waters in it\'s entirety, maybe you could make an podcast with the best versions of the songs on Final Cut ( wich are played live, if any isn\'t played live at all you could do the same as you did with Cluster one ) with the same order as on the album. The same idea on Animals album would be great too :D

  • I loved Witch Hunt at the end Doc. You gotta put in Vital Signs or Entre Nous later on.

  • I'm a Pink Floyd fan of 30+ years, but had never purchased Momentary Lapse and Division Bell until last week. Thus this podcast was especially timely for me.

The way you so seamlessly connected recordings from different concerts into one piece is really amazing. Thank you.

  • Rush's "Witch Hunt" on the end of the podcast? Great tune - but quite unexpected!

  • This is a cool podcast - with these being soundboard recordings of the live tracks did you have to overlay the audience reaction? If so you did great - it sounds very good!

  • Another brilliant podcast Doc as usual. Thank you thank you thank !

Out of interest whilst looking at the Wikipedia page about the Momentary Lapse of Reason album the other day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Momentary_Lapse_of_Reason) I noticed that it mentions:

"The recording sessions started in October 1986 as a new David Gilmour project. Gilmour revealed on the Shine On and A Momentary Lapse of Reason episodes of In the Studio with Redbeard that AMLoR was almost his third solo album as the material initially sounded too weak to be a PF album. Then in the same interview said that by Christmas of 1986 that he had confidence to turn the album into a Pink Floyd project."

Any idea if these 'In the Studio' interviews are available online anywhere ? Sounds like they'd be really interesting to hear.

  • great idea doc! and your implementation is fantastic too... You could do the same for the other albums too... Great version of lost for words near the end!

Oh and if you like to know that, I have some of your podcasts on my custom radio station in GTA San Andreas, so I can drive a car and listen to your podcasts in the background...

  • Great Podcast Doc.
Can't believe it's been a year since Syd Barrett's passing. At this time last year I'd never heard Pink Floyd. I didn't who they were, how many albums they put out, or the members.
I remebered finding my Dad's Dark Side Of The Moon LP in the basement (it now sits on a shelf in my room) and I loved the prism artwork. I didn't know the sad story of Syd until I watched documentry on VH1. Two weeks later I thought 'what the hell' and bought the DSOTM CD (the original not the SACD). I was hooked as soon as I heard that first guitar note on Breathe. Been a PF fan ever since.
So now it's a year later. I have all the albums, have an DSOTM poster in my room, and I'm listening to the best and the only real true Pink Floyd podcast.
    Cheers,
    Chris

  • Wow! This came out very well! I love how you added the background noise to Cluster One as well.
