Show #92 Release date: 18. August, 2007

9. September, 1987, Lansdowne Park, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at Frank Clair Stadium. This is a complete, decent sounding show and the first gig from the A Momentary Lapse of Reason Tour.  The taper and his buddies are certainly enjoying the show as were the rest of the 28 thousand, plus people in attendance.  In fact, the crowd would be the one big drawback to this recording.  They get a little overpowering at times and other times they are well behaved.  You may find yourself wanting to scream "be quiet!"  Unfortunately there isn’t much I can do to fix that but I was able to improve on the sound a little bit.  All that aside, this is a landmark, concert for Floyd.  Hope you dig.

  • Webber/Echoes: When Waters mentioned it in an interview with Q Magazine shortly after Amused to Death came out, Webber said it was written originally for "Gumshow," a movie he scored that came out in December 1971. Q Magazine ran it as a correction that was hideously deferential to "Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber," which makes a little more sense in light of the onerous English libel laws.

  • I was at this concert! I still have an unused ticket from a buddy who couldn\'t make it. Then I went down to Toronto to see them again. Getting to hear Echoes twice is still awesome to this day.

  • Hey doc,
I was wondering if you could feature the hour long interview Guy Pratt had with Rick Wright? I was out of town on the weekend of Sept. 18 & 19 and I missed the full hour show today.

  • At 2:04:02 a guy yells "Free Bird!"
Why do people have to shout?
At Roger's show back in May some prick in the row in front of me being somewhat of an ass after "Leaving Beirut". His wife told him to sit down and shut up :)

  • Hmm, so Dave and Co. opened the show with the full Echoes? Now that\'s a bold move...it\'s also better than anything on AMLOR.

    Also...

    \"We cower in the theater
With our hands over our ears
    Lloyd Webber\'s awful stuff
Runs for years and years and years
    An earthquake hits the theater
    But the operetta lingers
Then the piano lid comes down
    And breaks his fucking fingers.\"

  • Great show Doc! You did great work on this and the KAOS show.
I wish they performed Echoes on the Pluse (or Divison Bell) tour. I thinked it could have been performed better. Guy Pratt remarked about Echoes being played in 87 in an interview last year (I think) on Outsudethewall.net.
\"We tried Echoes on the 87 tour, but some of the younger players(mentioning no names) couldn\'t get their
heads around the free form nature of it, so we had to give it up.\"
But overall it was a great performance for not being played since the 75 tour. Great show.
    Cheers

  • your right Doc, I yelled out be quiet a few times, hehehe :)
when the crowd was quiet I kept waiting for more whoooooooo whoooooooooooooooooooooo whooos.... cause I missed them...;)
anyhoo, they where excited and from the great white north, eh !
This show reminds me of the dvd I picked up last year called, PINK FLOYD: Still First in Space, The Crew\'s Story by Bob Hickey, the house sound mixer for this MLOR tour.
Check it out for some behind the scenes if you have not already done so.

THANKS Doc ! YOU ROCK !
