Show #98 - Release date: 9. November, 2007

Originally featured on Brain Damage Show #32, Air date: 1. April, 2005 -  Stadio delle Alpi, Torino, Italy, 13. September 1994.  Torino was former host city of the 2006 Winter Games, It's located in the shadows of the Italian Alps close to the French and Swiss Borders.

Taken from the soundboard, this recording could render your copy of PULSE useless had Floyd played all of Dark Side of The Moon on this one, but alas, they don't.  So, you better keep your copy of PULSE around for good measure.

This is the only soundboard recording floating around from Floyd’s 94 Division Bell tour.  The audience as well as the band were having fun and David even gets to practice his Italian a little bit with
the crowd.  During Money, David slips up on the lyrics and starts laughing.  Later, the girls on back up vocals start having their own fun when they unexpectedly started jamming on kazoos.

  • Great "Floyd Cast", I thoroughly enjoyed it! I especially like the playful kazoo work of the backup singers. As usual excellent podcast. Love your shows. Keep up the good work.

  • I tried out the link to the yeeshkul site last night
and amongst other things a lot of people uploading audios were happy to state a "share & share alike" approach to their audios, infact one says people are free to change to whatever format suited them, which isn't questioned by the site admin, as long as they were getting the pink floyd out there to everyone

seems a little odd that someone from that site would then have the attitude that you're not allowed to do the same as they say there.

and personally I'd rather have you putting together a "doctored sound" as it were by putting what seemed to me to be multiple files for a single show together
not that I'm lazy just you do it better than I can or could

  • Hi, Doc, I´m Fede from Buenos Aires...great site, wonderful podcasts although I'm not a huge fan of Waterless Floyd gigs, but good show anyway this one. Thanks for the '77 In The Flesh tour podcast, I agree it must have been FLoyd's best moment. Too bad there isn´t an official release from those concerts.
I Have a suggestion for a potential podcast: doing Wish You Were Here (my favourite Floyd album)in its entirety, the songs in the same original order.
Maybe you could use Shine On..part 1 and Have a Cigar both from Roger 2007 tour, Welcome to the machine from his 2002 tour and Shine On..part 2 from David's 2002 DVD (In Concert) Of course, WIsh...is best played by Gilmour (best vocals, I think), maybe from his latest live DVD, which is a great version and also has the wonderful old radio intro, as well as Roger's ending to Have a Cigar...
    Greetings and thanks a lot...

  • Hey Doc

My request for the 100th podcast would be a nice early version of 'Shine On'. I recently heard a snipppet ffrom Wembley 1974 and it was quite different, with Rick's organ higher in the mix. Got any other recordings of the work in progress?

  • Ha, that's fine Maff. It's only a dream. I just wish I had the budget and/or resources to build a collection like that. So since your the lucky man Doc, you better put them to good use! But I'm sure if anyone can do it, it's you my friend. Thanks Maff too, because now I get to hear more of the greatness.

Maff, I gotta ask you though, out of all of them, what's the best show you've heard. At least liek top-3, because you've clearly heard more than me, and I want to hear the best the Floyd has to offer.

  • Sorry Sam. But the Doc gets the CDs as I\'m sure he can make the best use of them.
I am pretty sure my collection is small compared to some collections out there, if anybody has any discs the best place for them to be is in the Doctors hands, well at least until he makes a copy anyway, that way we all get to listen to the best of everybodys Collections. And you get your discs back, all it costs is a bit of postage.
Thinking about things now I should of ripped the lot onto an external hard drive and sent that in, it probably would have been cheaper.

Oh yeah Doc, I'm from the North Shore, so I just gotta mention the BoSox. Still can't believe 2 titles in 4 years; the Pats...oh the Pats; and of course the return of the Celts!

    Oh and Maff....those CD's.....please...pleaseeee

  • I have been thinking of ideas for the 100th show and nothing I can think of seems good enough, I have sent lots of ideas in but some are just lame......

But the best I can come up with for the 100th show is this. A Podumentary of the entire Pink Floyd story from the very first days upto present and beyond. Lot and lots of talking from the Doc with the above keys songs thrown in.
And thats the best I can think of.

But whatever you decide to do Doc please make this one a long one in fact I'd go as far as to say make this the longest show. The longer the better.

  • I think for the 100th \'cast we should have the best of the previous posts. What do you guys think? Doc? What\'s your opinion?

    posted by: s6270 on 2007-11-14 18:09:00

  • I second Scotts suggestion - although perhaps Doc's Faves would be better than 'best' then we don't need to disagree. Perhaps your favorites in a roughly chronological of some of the Key tracks in Floyd history - starting with A Domine and ending with the last tour. We could have a healthy enough disagreement about which were key - although some I guess would pencil themselves in withouit much effort.

  • Fitting dedication Doc. I really enjoyed reading everyones comments over the Yeeshkul thing. What an idiot that guy is. Personally, most of the Floyd boots I\'ve found on the web were in .mp3 format and generally much better in sound quality than the .flac / .shn etc. hard drive hogs. I\'ll send you a list of my boots as well. If there is anything you like let me know and I\'ll send you a copy.

  • Hi Doc, I'm a first time poster, I just wanted to let you know how much I really appreciate all the hard work you put into these podcasts, i've got them all on my iPod and listen to them all the time. I actually have a request for a future podcast I hope that's ok? Roger Waters at the Manchester Evening News Arena 7th May 2007. I actually went to that one, but my enjoyment of the show was spoilt by the people sitting in front of me, who were quite drunk and rather noisy. So if you have that show, that would be great. As for this situation with TJ, I think it's all been said before, but I'd just like to add that I really do sympathise with you as I have had terrible experiences with people making differences public rather than dealing with them or discussing them quietly, behind the scenes.

  • I could have made a recording of the manchester show but chickend out!
[the sound for the RTN cinema show worked out so well n' all]
I will forever torture myself for not doing it
so please doc I hope someone had the cahonies to make a recording - or better yet!? don't you know of a source that can get it from the film that was made??? :)
    hope so
    andy.

  • I have a possible suggestion for your 100th podcast if you choose to commemerate it: A while back you had one called "Floyd's worst moments", well how about one called "Floyd's best moments", you could pick a song or two from some of their best concerts.

  • Following Maffs lead Ive sent details of the 40 discs that I have, not many in the scheme of things and no doubt the Doc has most, if not all of the stuff that Ive sent, but least he has the choice to decide what if anything he wants from it. If we all send details of say 1 or 2 shows that have not been featured and that we think the Doc might not have how many shows between us all would that be. Come on guys get those emails sent in!! Thanks again Doc for a great show!!!

I thought my love affair with Pink Floyd had ended, as I knew every official release inside out and backwards, and I thought I had all the ROIOs I needed...and then I found this show!

Keep it up! I\'ll spread the word for ya.

  • First I would like to Give TJ A big thank you for all his trouble caused by the last podcast, because if it was not for him I would not have emailed the Doc and offered him a copy of all my Pink Floyd CDs. I have been collecting for over ten years and I have 275 Pink floyd CDs (alot are double and triple discs) on my ipod (in lossy format).

After reading the comments I emailed the Doc with a list of my collection asking if he would like me to make a copy of anything he wanted but then I thought it would be better for me to send the entire collection to him and he could copy what he wanted from that.

Why would I do this? Because what is the point of me having such a large private collection of CDs that can only be enjoyed by me, but through the Doc thousands of people can enjoy them. and he does such great work.

The down side is that my favorite podcast could now be playing lots of music that I already have so here is my idea, if you are a Pink Floyd collector or an online trader and have a large collection of discs that you think might be of use to the Doc why not Email your CD list to the Doc and if there is anything he could use he will let you know, then you can either make a copy and send it to him or like I\'m doing send in the original discs and let the Doc make his own copies,

Ask yourself this do you trust the Doctor to return your discs after he has finished copying them, if you do then what are you waiting for, with our help The Doc could have the biggest collection of Pink Floyd discs in the whole world and why not, The more rare stuff the Doc has got the better the show will be for everyone.

Oh and for my sake, so I don\'t have to listen to stuff that I have had in my personal collection for years, send the Doc as much as you\'ve got.

Last thing Doc, I have packed all 324 discs and will be posting them saturday. so expect them anytime before 28 days, then when ever you have finished with them send them back, take your time there is no rush, I would have posted them sooner but I am as bit short of cash but no problem My friend Marco is going to help out as he is also a big fan.

So I hope all the lossless Geeks are proud, by starting a fight with the Doc you could of caused him to obtain more Pink Floyd than anybody else in the world. HA HA HA It would take only a handful of people with a similar size collection as mine.
