Show #113 Release date: 14. June, 2008

This is my favorite time of year here in the northern hemisphere. The days are long, the sun sets late and the nights are warm. This podcast features a great collection of Floyd music done acoustically. Roll me up and lay me down, this makes for a perfect, relaxing summer evening listen.

  • Nice episode! Must of missed this one, or listened very stoned and forgot. Thanks Doc, something very special about acoustic Floyd, nice to have a dedicated episode!

  • I have taken several walks on long, quiet paths in my town while listening to this. Lincoln Nebraska has great tree-lined paths and parks, and this podcast is the perfect excuse to hit them all. One day, I hope to walk in and around Cambridge listening to it. That version of Baby Lemonade really knocks me out! Grantchester Meadows and A Pillow Of Winds always make me smile. Fantastic podcast, Doc!

  • Awesome set, Doc. The switch from Where We Start into Breathe was almost imperceptable. I thought it might have been a new performance. Have you been inspired by that great mash-up mix from that podcast last fall? Do more of that. Great job!

  • You're all very welcome. 23 comments in 48 hours is a record!

About Almeda? No reason really... its just some random "summer, passing the time" feel of a song. It's also featured in the opener of a great independent film called "Gummo."

  • Great show,i love the themed ones! This one follows on from the 'Something Blue' show rather nicely.Unrelated question:Has anyone else noticed a problem with the Knebworth (For what its worth)Podcast,No 94?Ive downloaded it several times in the last few mnths, and there always seems to be an annoying 2 min jump in Sorrow. Its about half way through Davids main solo, and jumps back to the verse before! Maybe its just me,buts its annoying! Its the only one ive ever had trouble with.Any ideas?...

As always your prescription fits our needs perfectly. I can't think of a more suitable laid back Father's day gift than a kickback musical Floyd arrangement.

  • Really good podcast again doc. Nice theme and well presented, as usual.
I hate doing this, but have to correct you on the Echoes track. It was recorded in 2006, not 2002, it was an out take from the Live at Abbey Road TV show. But you were right that it was spontaneous.
May you never run out of ideas for podcasts!!!

...turns out to be an EXCELLENT podcast...goes great with both my Rock heritage and my now-a-days middle age sensibilities.

    Perfect.

  • Doc, I listened to this as the evening drew to a close on a mild Winter's evening. Very laid back, very relaxing, very mellow. Nice. I guess most of Floyd's music started like this, as melodies picked out on an acoustic guitar (or notes on a piano), before they were fleshed out into the fully formed music we appreciate. Great job, Doc, keep those creative juices bubbling.

Thanks, Doc, for all the time & work you pour into the podcast. It really is a Special Treat every two weeks to look forward to "New" Pink Floyd--now, THAT's something you can't get just anywhere.
