Show #69 Release date: 29. September, 2006

Wow, three podcasts this month.  Lucky you.  For this podcast we visit The Palace Theater in Waterbury Connecticut* 18. March 1973.  The sound quality was rather mucky before I polished it up as best I could.  I had to locate more than one source and even take clips from other shows to fill in some gaps.  It's an "off the beaten path" location for a Pink Floyd gig.  Why not Hartford?  Anyway, this podcast will be last to feature a Dark Side of The Moon set for a while.  Hope you dig!

*March 7 2010:  UPDATE!!!  Its quite possible this recording is actually from Radio City Music Hall.  That show didn't start until 1:30am on the 18th.

Set 1:
1. Obscured by Clouds
2. When You're In
3. Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun
4. Careful With That Axe, Eugene
5. Echoes

Set 2:
1. Speak To Me
2. Breathe
3. On The Run
4. Time / Breathe (reprise)
5. The Great Gig In The Sky
6. Money
7. Us And Them
8. Any Colour You Like
9. Brain Damage
10. Eclipse

Encore:
11. One Of These Days

Tribute band The Pink Floyd Experience will be performing at the Palace Theater in Waterbury, CT, Saturday, 10. February 2007 at 7pm (just happens to be on my birthday so I'll see you there)

  • thanks doc
some newly discovered info about this show - this is indeed from the night before at RCMH. this show was due to start at 10pm on the 17th but was delayed to about 1am on the 18th. the tapes were labeled the 18th and as the floyd played waterbury on the evening of the 18th it was taken that this show is waterbury but it is indeed RCMH on the 17th.
there is no known recording of the true waterbury gig and all 5 recorders of the "18th" are indeed the 17th.
hope this clears a few things up.

    great podcast btw DOC

  • Hey Doc

Just wanted to say thanks for every podcast ! These shows have been great to listen to as I renovate my house, the volume cranked up!

I've especially enjoyed the DTSOM v2.0 - did you say you were going to release a v3.0 ?

Keep up the suberb work. If only my other favourite band had such a dedicated podcaster !

    Cheers,
    Rich

  • I grew up in Waterbury and was one of the 3000 or so lucky few who heard this concert live that night. I was there with some buddies from Crosby High School. Wonder where they are now? Man, more than 35 years ago! I still remember every note.

  • It's too bad that Pink Floyd only played those two songs from Obscured by Clouds live. I think that album is very underrated and would have liked to hear more live tracks from that album.

  • It\'s been fun to hear "Dark Side" evolve via the Doctor\'s podcasts here. We've also enjoyed glimpses into early looks at what finally became "Animals" and studio demos of some songs from "The Wall." More of that would be way cool.
QUESTION: Are their any early road versions or studio demos of \"Wish You Were Here\" album material? That would be awesome!
