My worst nightmare has come to fruition... A few days ago, one of my 4 year old, raid'ed internal harddrives decided it had enough. In the process of fixing this (having to replace both drives), I accidentally deleted a partition in my external back up drive holding all my production programs, elements and even some music. This caused a massive problem because when a partition is deleted, the machine won't see the drive and all its wonderful data. I was able to recover most and I hope all the data which was very time consuming (14 hours) not to mention very stressing on my external drive. The next step is to do a back up again but I have to get another drive (1tb) to do so (hopefully today). So to make a long boring story short and boring... I'm hosed until further notice. At the rate I'm going, it should not be long but there will be a lot of backing up, reinstalling, reconfiguring, testing and all that happy horse poop. So, again... (this hasn't been my year) there will be no podcast this week and there is a 50/50 percent chance there will be one the following week. This has turned out to be a costly and time consuming process so your patience is much appreciated. Best, Doc Comments[33]

- Man. I feel your pain. What a nightmare. I've had 5 years worth of my business's work disappear in a flash due to an external drive frying. It's a despairing helpless feeling. Thank goodness you were able to retrieve most of your data. This would have been a loss to us all, but man, that's your baby...that really sucks.
- Yake your time, Doc! There's plenty to keep us going already. We know when you do get sorted it'll be well worth it.
PS Just thought I should mention a link someone tipped me off about. It'a: www.zamzar.com. The way it works, you cut n paste the URL from YouTube files, email them to yourself and PRESTO! You have ripped the audio from YouTube! I already plundered the Flod archives over the last few nights. Maybe other devotees could do likewise during the interim and keep themselves amused during your absence? - Unrelated to your computer issues, I was watching a video of the Australian Pink Floyd Show on my local PBS station last night. The act was wonderful, of course and every note spot-on, but they lacked a certain "crackle" that the Floyd had that counterpointed the slow, plodding nature of much of their material. Whenever I saw the Floyd perform, with Roger or after Roger, they had an underlying "funk" that propelled the music and gave it good backbone. Despite their well rehearsed musicianship APFS seemed to have all the syrup and little of the crunch. Just an observation from the left coast.
- Thanks again everyone... To be honest I'm going out of my brain damaged mind! My computer guy's been away for 10 days on Martha''s Vineyard and won''t be back until the 16th... soon but not soon enough. I'm not a big fan of playing the waiting game... but my hands are tied. My studio production capabilities are non-existent at the moment (this is the part that's driving insane)
I hope to have a podcast for this weekend but with each day passing, I'm losing valuable production time.
I hope to have a podcast up before I go on my mini vacation Sept 25 thru 28th in the Cleveland, OH area... at Cedar Point, then on my last day, the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
No guarantees though if I'll have a new one posted before then
I appreciate everyone saying "take your time"... it's reassuring to know you guys are willing to wait. It does take A LOT of pressure off.
You guys are the berries!
Shine on,
Doc - I've only just discovered this podcast and it's absolute heaven for me! Despite the hard work and the hassle you've had, there's a lot of people out here who really appreciate what you're doing. Most of all I enjoyed the Animals recordings (my first gig ever was PF at Stafford Bingley Hall in the UK on 31/03/77 when I was 16). Kind regards. Rob (Coventry, UK)
- doc, dont worry. man im sorry that happened.i had everything on my computer, just as i was going to get an external hard drive(my first one) then my computer died!i didnt have time to convert anything to my new drive. the internal hard drive was finished! i lost everything to music, old family photos, to just things i really wanted! i feel your pain. i hope everything works out for you. thankyou for everything that you do for us. love your shows. dont stress anything! peace!
kenny - "Floyd".......hmmmmmm
As in "Welcome to the (Floyd) Machine"...

- Thanks guys... I'm not depressed about it... I'm just annoyed with the annoyance of having a crippled machine (who's name is Floyd by the way)
All my files have been recovered and I'm currently in the process of backing them up... then i'll make a back up of my back up drive.
onward and upward... - I feel ya doc, last sunday our washer crapped out and as as soon as I unhooked it and looked it over (I don't know if it's something I can fix) my son said our computer was acting retarded and suddenly we were also having download issues because one of our network cables has a short in it. It feels like it never ends but I guess it's nice to know you're not the only one suffering. Don't sweat it man we'll all be here when you can get the next podcast up. Now I need to look up info on washer repair.
- Pullin' for ya, Doc...!
I know how computers can sometimes take us to Cyber-Hell.
I call my own system 'Cerberus' (the 3-headed dog guarding the River of Death)when it gives me grief; I call it "SkyNet" when it actually seems malevolent, hostile and dangerous enough to be the beginning of the End of the Human Race)
Good luck, buddy.

- Been there, done that, and got a western digital t-shirt to prove it. My first time taught me to have a good backup plan. Now I back everything up on either cd's or dvd's and on external backups. Nothings fool-proof but hard drives are cheap luckily. Check out newegg.com
We Love ya Doc. You'll be rockin' before ya know it. - Damn Doc, just Damn. Sorry to hear of all the troubles. I feel your pain as my own home systems have crapped out in the same manner recently. I know about all the time consuming joy of reforming that you get to go through. Good luck and we will hear from ya when we hear from ya ka
